In a bid to work their way towards a greener future, Anantara and AVANI Hotels and Resorts are actively engaging in an effort to eliminate, the use of plastic straws throughout their properties in the Asian Region. The goal is to replace the 2.5 million plastic straws used annually with a recyclable and biodegradable alternative.
The ban is a concrete step towards realizing a more comprehensive and long-term sustainable environmental plan initiated by the Minor Hotel Groups. The newest environmental friendly policy comes alongside previously implemented initiatives by the group such as the Aquaponic Farm at the Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort, one of many a luxury resort in Bangkok. Other environmental projects undertaken by the group include the Dugong Conservation project at Anantara Si Kao and the Mai Khao Marine Turtle Foundation.
