Marrakech shines brighter as Morocco’s tourism heart
Morocco has solidified its place as Africa’s most-visited country, welcoming 17.4 million international travellers in 2024—a record that experts predict will be surpassed in 2025. At the heart of this growth is Marrakech, the country’s most visited city, attracting over five million visitors despite challenges such as the 2023 earthquake.
Other destinations also contribute to Morocco’s rising appeal. Agadir recorded 3.1 million overnight stays, while Casablanca welcomed 1.19 million. Marrakech, however, stands out with hotel occupancy rising from 68% in 2024 to 71% in 2025. Analysts credit these trends to stronger air links, new promotional strategies, and expanding source markets.
For travellers, Marrakech continues to offer an unmatched blend of history, culture, and hospitality. From boutique stays like Riad Elegancia to luxury retreats featured among the best places to stay in Marrakech, Morocco, the city reaffirms its status as a premier destination for global visitors.
