From January to June 2023, Myanmar (formerly Burma) recorded a total of 455,301 tourist arrivals and compared with the same period from last year, this was a staggering 484% increase. This was brought to light on The Star Online news website on 27th July 2023 as per the statistics released by the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism. Following the lifting of pandemic-related travel restrictions, Myanmar has seen an increase in foreign visitors, and more arrivals are expected in the coming months.
