Namibia begins trial program for reopening of borders

Resuming travel services

Due to the COVID -19 outbreak, Namibia decided to close its borders and thus, suffered huge losses, especially in the tourism sector. However, they decided to shift to Level 5 of its lockdown strategy in August- September 2020, resuming air travel services.

According to this strategy, foreign travellers from selected countries were allowed to enter Namibia adhering to strict health and safety guidelines. Under this program, travellers who were waiting to explore Namibia and all its attractions such as dunes and shipwrecks got the opportunity of fulfilling their wishes. They most likely chose hotels in Windhoek the likes of Avani Windhoek Hotel & Casino for their stays which also followed all hygiene and cleanliness guidelines issued by the WHO and local public health authorities.
