An event that filled the sky with colourful creations that soared amidst the ocean breeze, Sri Lanka’s annual National Kite Festival took place for the 7th time. Held on 12th and 13th September 2015, this event was hosted at the popular Galle Face Green, a public area by the coast in the city of Colombo. Galle Face Green is considered one of the best places for kite flying in the country and is ideally placed within easy reach of city hotels such as The Steuart by Citrus, belonging to Citrus Leisure which features well known Sri Lanka resorts. The National Kite Festival took place under the banner “Nil Ahase Wasanthaya” (referring to spring amidst blue skies) and was organised by Kite Sri Lanka. Attracting more than 500 enthusiasts from across the island, the festival also featured fascinating competitions for children as well as having an open category with prizes awarded for everything from the Most Creative Kite to the Best Fighting Kite.
