Negombo Featured on ’52 Places to Go’ by New York Times – An Enchanting Village by the Sea

In January this year, the New York Times revealed its annual list of ‘52 Places to Go in 2024’. Amongst the destinations that made this coveted list was the charming fishing village of Negombo along the west coast of Sri Lanka. As mentioned by the New York Times, Negombo has emerged as a top choice for travellers in search of places to visit on the island away from the crowds; its location close to the main international airport and within easy reach of Colombo, the commercial capital, as well as it offering beaches to visit and hiking opportunities were added allures that were highlighted.

This destination’s well-known cathedrals, impressive temples, Dutch canals, and colonial-style buildings were also put in the spotlight, not forgetting the seafood restaurants that offer fresh crab and prawn dishes in Negombo. 5 star hotels beside idyllic shores can be found here as well with the likes of Sentido Heritance Negombo providing an ideal getaway for travellers looking to enjoy the best of this coastal hideaway.
