The newest airport in the Maldives, located in the Dhaalu Atoll, recently saw the successful completion of its first test flight. This domestic airport on Kudahuvadhoo Island in the southern part of the country is expected to have three to four daily flights initially once fully operational. Ahmed Amir (Kudahuvadhoo MP), Moosa Zameer (Tourism Minister) and Ahmed Nihan (Majority Leader) were among the dignitaries who were passengers on this flight along with Abdul Haris (Island Aviation Managing Director) and senior officials from the country’s civil aviation authority. The airport is expected to bring in more tourists and make transport to island resorts easier. With everything from beachside getaways to water bungalows, Maldives offers unique accommodation options at resorts like Adaaran Club Rannalhi and the new airport will be among the nation’s airports that will be looked upon to boost tourism. |
