Rohan Karr, a veteran hotelier who achieved success with the Cinnamon brand recently announced that he would be joining the leisure sector of Hayleys PLC owned by leading businessman Dhammika Perera. The move which will come into effect from 1st June 2019 will see Mr. Karr taking on the role as an Executive Director for Hayleys PLC. He will also operate as the Managing Director for travels and tours, leisure and hotels; this encompasses the group’s flagship leisure brand Amaya Resorts and Spas as well as the five star Colombo city hotel, The Kingsbury.
The Amaya brand offers Sri Lanka resorts and hotels in key destinations around the island including Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Dambulla, Sigiriya and Passikudah, while it has a property in the Maldives as well. Mr. Karr has more than 30 years in the hospitality industry both locally and internationally and has served as the general manager at several UK hotels.
