New Zealand-Cook Islands Travel Bubble Launched – A Positive Step for Tourism

Following a similar initiative with Australia in April this year, New Zealand launched a travel bubble with the Cook Islands on 17th May 2021. This gave those from both nations a chance to enjoy two-way, quarantine-free travel between borders which was also a boost for the tourism and airline industries. Daily flights have been added between Auckland in New Zealand and Rarotonga of the Cook Islands.

Those travelling from the Cook Islands can now easily visit and stay at some of the best hotels in Auckland; this includes properties the likes of Avani Auckland Metropolis Residences which have adopted strict hygiene and health measures. Likewise, New Zealanders can also go on holidays to the Cook Islands; in fact, there has been such a surge in demand, Air New Zealand announced that it would be adding 11,000 seats from August to October 2021 to its Auckland to Rarotonga flights.
