No More On-Arrival PCR Testing in Thailand – Required Medical Insurance Also Reduced

From 1st May 2022, significant changes were made to the on-arrival protocols for tourists visiting Thailand. Amongst these was that regardless of their vaccination status, tourists no longer had to submit to an RT-PCR test as they landed; in addition to this, as per a previous update, they didn’t need to show a negative RT-PCR test taken before they embarked to Thailand. While those fully vaccinated were free to go anywhere in the country, partially or non-vaccinated travellers had to quarantine for five days at an approved hotel and take an RT-PCR test on the fifth day.

As of May, this year, the mandatory minimum medical insurance policy coverage that tourists should have was reduced as well from USD 20,000 to USD 10,000. Such changes bode well as the country looks to get the tourism industry back on track.
