No On-Arrival Testing in Sri Lanka for Tourists – Applies to All Regardless of Vaccine Status

Due to its effective handling of COVID-19 and to encourage more tourists, Sri Lanka has done away with on-arrival testing for all inbound travellers. Previously, this was only on offer for those fully vaccinated though this was subsequently changed. As per a notice issued by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, from 20th April 2022, all non-vaccinated or partially vaccinated travellers no longer had to submit to a day one PCR test; in addition to this, they were exempt from quarantine as well.

As part of the entry requirement to receive these exemptions, such tourists need to show a negative result of a PCR test taken within 72 hours of embarkation. This easing of protocols will no doubt encourage more travellers to visit and enjoy the island once more including its beach destinations like Kalutara. Resort options here such as Avani Kalutara Resort offers ‘Safe and Secure’ certified accommodation with stringent health and hygiene measures in place as well.
