Oman Airports See Surge in Arrivals in 2022 – Positive Signs Ahead for 2023

As highlighted on the Simple Flying website on 12th December 2022, airports in Oman marked a remarkable increase in arrivals last year. For example, between January to September last year, there was a significant number of passengers at the airports with arrivals up 168% when compared to the same period in 2021. In addition to this, the country also saw an increase in international flights which was 110% more than last year. Amongst the reasons for this was the FIFA World Cup 2022 in neighbouring Qatar which led to more travellers to the region.

The greatest number of arrivals was experienced at the Muscat International Airport in the nation’s capital which saw a rise of 114% in comparison with 2021. Also of note was Salalah International Airport, within easy reach of Al Baleed Resort Salalah by Anantara, which saw international flights increase by 221% and domestic flights by 39%. In Salalah, beach resort options continue to draw travellers from around the world looking to experience a coastal getaway with cultural discoveries as well.
