Oman: First International Bus Service to Saudi Arabia Commences

Muscat and Riyadh will be directly connected for the first time with the launch of an international passenger bus service. The project commenced on the 22nd, the daily service utilises the Empty Quarter road, offering a travel time of roughly 18-20 hours with stops for border formalities.

Operating from both cities, the buses will make stops in Ruwi, Nizwa, Ibri (Oman) and Dammam (Saudi Arabia). A one-way promotional fare is available until the end of the month before standard pricing takes effect. While Saudi authorities require a minimum of 25 passengers, the dual carriageway route promises a comfortable journey with two drivers and rest stops. Citizens and expatriates are eligible for the service, with visa options varying depending on nationality. Visitors from Saudi can now conveniently experience stays at a Salalah resort in Oman the likes of Al Baleed Resort Salalah with ease following this revolutionary project.
