Oman Invests in Aviation Infrastructure to Drive Tourism Growth – 6 New Airports To Be Built

Oman is embarking on an ambitious airport expansion project, with plans to construct six new airports across the country. This strategic move is aimed at bolstering domestic aviation and enhancing connectivity, solidifying Oman’s position as a leading travel destination.

The expansion will significantly increase the country’s airport network, facilitating easier access to diverse regions and attractions. Proposed development for airports in Jabal Akdhar and Masirah would benefit major hotels in the area that are currently 100km away from the closest airport, such as Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort, the highest-rated Nizwa resort, in Oman.

Aiming to cater to the growing demand for air travel, the new infrastructure is expected to stimulate economic growth, create job opportunities, and further develop the tourism sector.

Scheduled for completion between 2028 and 2029, the new airports are anticipated to increase passenger traffic from the current 17 million to a projected 50 million by 2040.
