As reported on the Gulf News website on 18th August 2021, Oman is getting ready to soon open five adventure tourism projects. These are a part of the Oman Vision 2040 Implementation plan and encompass initiatives and activities at the Green Mountain (Al Jabal Al Akhdar). For travellers heading to Oman, luxury resorts at the Green Mountain already offer adventure-filled experiences too. This includes the property of Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas which provides access to a special climbing wall at the mountain; it features everything from the first mountain zip-lines in the country to a via ferrata (protected climbing route) with multiple levels on vertical rocks.
Another key adventure tourism project mentioned was the development of the cave chamber at Majlis Al Jinn, the world’s second-largest known cave chamber. Other initiatives include a project at Wadi Shab, ziplining in the Khasab region and the development of mountain trails in Oman and a mountain trails app.
