OMA’s Qatar National Library Opens in Doha – A Place of Learning

Designed by the prestigious Dutch Firm, OMA, the Qatar National Library in Doha along with the Public and University Libraries, form a part of an extensive development project called the ‘’Education City’’ which includes satellite campuses from the most premier universities and learning institutions from around the globe.

A stunning work of architecture, space has been designed, in such a way that all the books and shelves can be seen in a panorama, according to the OMA’s co-founder, Rem Koolhaas. The place of learning also houses a set of extremely valuable manuscripts about the Arab – Islamic civilisation as well as almost a million books. Ample space is available to accommodate thousands of readers in an area consisting of 42,000 m2.
