On the 17th of February 2019, Otaru will come alive as the city is magically decorated with lights and snow statues for approximately 10 days. Even though the festivities are visible in all parts of Otaru there are 2 special venues for the best experience, Unga Kaijo area and the Temiyasen Kaijo area. Here the place will be lit up and open to the public from 5 pm to 9 pm.
All the citizens in Otaru will decorate the entrances of shops and residences as well. If you happen to be in Otaru in February, do visit the 2 special venues for an unforgettable experience. The main attraction by the Otaru Canal is just a 6-minute drive away from Grand Park Otaru and many an Otaru hotel near Jr station. The best way to experience the festival is to take a leisurely stroll and simply soak in the lively winter atmosphere here.
