Passenger Traffic Surges at Zayed International Airport – Supporting Abu Dhabi’s Tourism Boom
Mirroring the increase in arrivals to the UAE, Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport has witnessed a substantial surge in passenger traffic this year. As reported by Abu Dhabi Airports in July 2024, the airport handled a remarkable 13.7 million passengers between January and June, representing a significant 33.8% increase compared to the same period in 2023. Etihad Airways, the flagship carrier based at Zayed International Airport, has also experienced robust growth, transporting 8.7 million passengers during the first six months of 2024, a 38% increase year-on-year.
