Perth Ramps Up Its Tourism: Suburbs Thrive

While Perth’s inner-city bookings, including popular spots like Pan Pacific Perth and other great hotels in Perth City, saw an 8.3% decline during the 2024 autumn/winter season, the southern suburbs experienced a surge, with businesses like Swan River Seaplanes and Funcats Watersports seeing a 62.6% rise.

Funcats owners Andrew and Jane Partington attributed this growth to Perth’s newfound popularity as a safe and underrated destination post-COVID. “Perth is really flavour of the month right now,” Andrew noted, suggesting that Perth is increasingly being seen as a top choice alongside cities like Melbourne, Sydney, and attractions like the Great Barrier Reef. Celebrating 50 years of their business, the Partingtons acknowledged that while local support is dipping due to rising costs of living, the international market is stepping in to bolster the tourism industry in Perth’s suburbs.
