Phuket Reopens for Tourists – Quarantine-free Travel A Key Allure

In a bid to kick-start the tourism industry in Thailand, the popular holiday destination of Phuket reopened its borders for foreign tourists from 1st July 2021. Dubbed the Phuket Sandbox project, this initiative offers quarantine-free holidays for fully vaccinated travellers who are not arriving from countries that are deemed as “high-risk” destinations; while these initially included nations like the U.K, Germany, the United Arab Emirates and the United States, tourists should always check for the latest updates before they arrive.

As part of the protocols, those arriving on the island must spend a minimum of 14 days in an approved SHA Plus certified property including the likes of Anantara Layan Phuket Resort; while guests are ensured safe stays at such luxury hotels, Phuket adventures can be enjoyed during this time as well. There are also COVID-19 tests on specified days and once the 14-day period is over, travellers can head to other parts of Thailand if they wish.
