Phuket Unveils Monorail Plan to Boost Tourism and Transport – New Monorail to Transform Island Travel!

The Thai government has unveiled an ambitious plan to enhance Phuket’s transportation infrastructure, including a new monorail system linking the airport to Phuket Town. This initiative supports the island’s thriving economic and tourism sectors, which saw over 300 billion baht in circulation last year.

Government spokesman Chai Wacharonke announced that Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin has prioritised Phuket in the national strategy for tourism, transport, and aviation development. The Transport Ministry will implement immediate, medium-term, and long-term plans to improve Phuket’s transportation network, reinforcing its status as a top tourist destination.

Key projects include upgrading Highway 402, expanding Highway 4027, constructing an expressway from Patong Beach to Phuket Airport, and developing a 41.7-kilometre light rail system by 2031. Additionally, the deep-sea port is being studied to accommodate large cruise ships.

Amidst these developments, resorts like Anantara Koh Yao Yai Resort & Villas continue to offer lavish suites in Phuket, exceptional services, and many more to travellers.
