Pilot Tourism Projects Expands – Sri Lanka Welcomes Tourists Again

Following the initial pilot tourism project in Sri Lanka launched at the end of last year, the country has now opened its travel borders and international airports to welcome foreign visitors once more. At the end of December 2021, Russian region-based tourists including those from Ukraine arrived in the island; this was part of a coordinated initiative to slowly kick-start the tourism industry which was hard-hit due to COVID-19-related border closures.

Subsequently, with the required safety and health protocols in place, the country reopened its international borders on 21st January 2021; this paved the way for tourists to visit and experience what the country has to offer. From beaches and rich culture to luxury hotels in Sri Lanka including the likes of Saman Villas, there is much for travellers to look forward to on their stay.
