Pitrapaksha Mela Festival Celebrated in September 2017 – Paying respects to the ancestors

Hindus from all over the world gather at Gaya, Bihar for the popular Pitrapaksha Mela and this year will be no different. Commencing on the 5th of September 2017 and continuing for 14 days after, this ritual is obligatory for Hindus. This Hindu rite is performed to bring salvation and peace to the departed soul of ancestors or relatives. The people performing the ritual will offer Pinda Daan for their ancestors and take part in this 2 week long Pitrapiaksha Mela in one of the holiest places on earth.
