Positive Outlook for Local Tourism in Hong Kong – Vaccines to Play a Key Role

The local tourism industry in Hong Kong is steadily recovering which bodes well for the year to come; this was highlighted in an online article published on the Global Times website on 19th February 2021. It went on to mention that due to a consistent drop of COVID-19 cases, the city had relaxed social-distancing regulations and had reopened two of the most popular theme parks; these were namely Hong Kong Disneyland and Ocean Park. Additionally, gyms could reopen and restaurants were permitted to stay open till 10:00pm.

A key factor in this optimistic outlook was that COVID-19 vaccination programmes will also begin to roll out and the government has already purchased 22.5 million vaccine doses. Safe accommodation options be it at a luxury or budget hotel in Hong Kong are available too. Designated quarantine hotels like Dorsett Mongkok have been certified under the “Anti-Epidemic Hygiene Measures Certification Scheme” of HKQAA (Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency) and provide special 21-night quarantine packages for inbound travellers as well.
