Holidaying in Sri Lanka in June is a great idea for a good number of reasons, and among them, the fact that Poson Poya falls in this special month is one of the main ones. Even if you decide to spend your holiday at a holiday bungalow in Nuwara Eliya where the majority of the community are not Buddhists, you can still see people (even the non-Buddhists) celebrating Poson Poya in diverse ways.
Buddhists visit temples on this Poya day and attend to various religious observances such as Bodhi Pooja and Sil programs while also not forgetting to decorate their homes and streets with lamps and lanterns. There are also Bhakti Gee sessions (Singing events) organized by various institutions and while spending your holidays at great venues the likes of Scottish PlanterGlendevon Bungalow you too can enjoy all these with delight.
