Post-COVID-19 Tourism Demand for Maldives Rises – Positive Signs for the Industry

Kuoni, a UK-based tourism company, has revealed there is an upsurge in people booking holidays to the Maldives for 2021; this is according to a recent article published online by The Edition which features English news in the Maldives. The article which was quoting the managing director of Kuoni further highlighted that over 50% of the holiday bookings so far are to this island nation for next year, higher than any other destination.

This news would have no doubt brought a sense of optimism to the local tourism industry that has been severely hit by travel restrictions following the global COVID-19 pandemic. In July, restrictions on properties on uninhabited islands and liveaboard vessels were lifted, opening them up for business again.
