Kuoni, a UK-based tourism company, has revealed there is an upsurge in people booking holidays to the Maldives for 2021; this is according to a recent article published online by The Edition which features English news in the Maldives. The article which was quoting the managing director of Kuoni further highlighted that over 50% of the holiday bookings so far are to this island nation for next year, higher than any other destination.
This news would have no doubt brought a sense of optimism to the local tourism industry that has been severely hit by travel restrictions following the global COVID-19 pandemic. In July, restrictions on properties on uninhabited islands and liveaboard vessels were lifted, opening them up for business again. With tropical island escapes for couples and the best resorts in Maldives for families including the likes of Anantara Dhigu Maldives Resort on offer, it will be hoped that tourism picks up soon.
