Post-Covid Travel In 2021: Maldives Records More Than 900,000 Tourists This Year

The impact of the pandemic was felt all over the world; no country was spared, and everyone had to adjust their lives to the new normal. The Maldives, one of the top tourist destinations in the world with a tourism-dependent economy, was crushed by the pandemic. However, with the news of the vaccine and the reduction in the number of Covid-19 cases since of late, the Maldives opened its borders and was removed from the UK’s Red List. This saw a massive surge in the travel receipts, making the South Asian archipelago one of the first countries to bounce back with unrelenting rigour.

In 2020, the country was visited by 900,000 tourists, and most of them were from countries like India; this increase in the number of travellers was unexpected but certainly a welcome surprise. Furthermore, those looking for the epitome of luxury amidst the tropical allure of the Maldives can have their needs met at a Maldives luxury resort; the likes of Adaaran Select Meedhupparu, and this will certainly be a welcome change to those who have been stuck at home for months.
