Qatar Unveils Ambitious Tourism Strategy for 2023: What Travelers Can Expect

Since reopening its international borders and successfully hosting the FIFA World Cup in 2022 as well, Qatar has emerged as a leading tourist destination attracting travelers from around the world. This has led to the country welcoming an increasing number of tourists this year; as per figures from Qatar Tourism which were published on the Peninsula news website on 04th September 2023, the country recorded 2.56 million arrivals from January to 25th August this year. This was a significant increase of 157% compared to the same period last year, while it also meant that Qatar had already surpassed the total arrivals figure of 2022.

The country is continuing to see more travelers visit and take advantage of hotel deals in Doha, the capital, for both business and leisure. These include those on offer at properties like Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels by Tivoli amidst the historical Souq Waqif and near other key attractions in the city. With Qatar looking to further develop the tourism industry with the help of international investors, the future looks promising, and one can expect even more arrivals in 2024.
