Reassessing Plans for Zambia’s Tourism Sector – A Long-Term Strategy in Place

In March this year, the Zambia Tourism Masterplan was launched as part of a plan that will run till 2038. However, it is yet to be seen how the recent COVID-19 pandemic will affect this plan for the time being, with tourism being one of the most affected sectors. However, the long-term nature of this plan means that the country is developing initiatives that will be carried out past the pandemic period, which is key.

Tourism is an important industry here with travellers from around the world drawn to a wealth of experiences on offer; they also have a wide choice when it comes to accommodation be it at a Kitwe, Lusaka or Livingstone hotel including properties the likes of The Royal Livingstone Victoria Falls Zambia Hotel by Anantara. The new tourism master plan seeks to initiate a strategic framework for the industry that will be carried out at a national level, while also setting up the Presidential Tourism Council.
