Resurgence in Domestic Tourism in China

More Holidays Taken Within the Country

With outbound travel not having taken off yet in China following the pandemic due to strict restrictions, the country is seeing a resurgence in domestic tourism which is a positive sign. According to a report by the online travel agency, Ctrip, 40% of all business during the Labour Day holiday was made up of local tourism; this was highlighted on the South China Morning Post news website in May 2022 which

further revealed that amongst the popular holiday options being adopted by travellers in China was to go camping.

It was also noted that those in the city looked to enjoy visiting places like museums as well as sightseeing in the suburbs rather than heading further afield. That said, popular destinations like Xi’an, home to the Terracotta Warriors which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, continue to draw visitors. Those planning trips here and looking for the best luxury hotel in Xi’an with stringent cleanliness and hygiene protocols can consider properties like Grand Park Xian adjacent to the iconic and historical City Wall.
