Robust Baht, Travel Trends Rattle the Thai Tourism Market

Beyond Barriers Towards a Boost

Tourism has always been considered as the money-making machine of Thailand and among the hordes of travellers coming to this travel destination, Chinese travellers top the numbers in terms of arrivals. By the end of 2019, Thailand expects to have 40 million visitors, and this has been hugely threatened by the strengthening effect recently had on the Baht as per the current records.

European and Chinese travellers generally book a 5 Star hotel in Chiang Mai for their accommodation during their stays in Thailand, and according to the hotel owners, this threat has been severely felt even by them. However, with Thailand proposing a US$10 billion economic stimulus package, it is expected that resorts the likes of Anantara Chiang Mai Resort will continue to receive their normal numbers without experiencing any difficulty.
