“Samui Plus” Programme Continues to Draw Tourists – Guidelines Updated Last Month

Initially launched on 15th July 2021, the “Samui Plus” programme has continued to draw tourists, eager to experience what this popular Thai island has to offer. Under this “sandbox” initiative, fully vaccinated international travellers do not have to undergo mandatory quarantine on arrival. However, they must spend at least their first seven days at a Samui Extra Plus certified hotel and afterwards, can move to one of the SHA+ certified properties such as Anantara Bophut Koh Samui Resort. Providing safe holidays in Koh Samui, resorts such as these have strict health and hygiene measures in place too.

The guidelines have also been subsequently updated; from 1st October 2021, fully vaccinated tourists were required to stay at the destination for seven days before being allowed to other parts of the country; this applied to places that come under the “sandbox” programme such as Surat Thani (Koh Phangan, Koh Samui and Koh Tao), Krabi (Railay, Koh Ngai and Koh Phi Phi), Phangnga (Koh Yao and Khao Lak) and Phuket.
