It was all about fun on the water for one whole week at the 17th Samui Regatta held this year. As always, the event was quite a success with crowds gathering to take part in races and watch and cheer on their favourites. The event, also known as ‘Tropical Island Regatta’ took place at the Chaweng beach. The beach was alive as world-class talent hit its waters this season.
Samui Regatta brings in sailors and yachts from across the continent of Asia while it also includes dinghy racing for youths. Making a debut this year were the foiling kiteboards said to be the first stage of a fresh pan-Asia tour. Each year the event takes place in the island of Koh Samui. Resorts here such as Sunset Coast Samui Resort & Villas become quite popular on the race week with many tourists gathering to watch or take part in the event.
