Selling Art Online Gains Popularity in Myanmar

Galleries See a Boom in Sales

As reported on The Star news website on 26th April 2022, the sale of art online in Myanmar has seen a remarkable increase following the pandemic. Due to COVID-19 related lockdowns and other restrictions, galleries found that putting their artworks online was a great way to attract potential buyers. Paintings were posted online via social media and purchases, be it for personal collections or as an investment, were made using a digital payment system of a bank.

One of the destinations where online art sales have flourished is Yangon home to the famed Shwedagon Pagoda. Despite the burgeoning popularity of this form of purchasing art, you can still physically visit several key art galleries in Yangon; hotel properties located in the heart of the city such as Pan Pacific Yangon are located within easy reach of the Lokanat, Pansodan and Nawaday Tharlar galleries showcasing diverse creative works.
