Seychelles Begins COVID-19 Immunisation Campaign – A Positive Start to the Year

Last month, Seychelles began a COVID-19 national vaccination programme and became the first African nation to do so. This immunisation campaign was launched on 10th January 2021 and the country aims to become the first in the world to vaccinate 70% of the population who are above 18 years; this will help to achieve what is known as “herd immunity” that will offer increased protection for the population against COVID-19.

This, in turn, will have significant benefits not just to locals but other areas as well including tourism in Seychelles; resorts on various islands including Anantara Maia Seychelles Villas are amongst the many accommodation options available for tourists which follow strict health and safety protocols too. Following the inaugural vaccination programme, the Ministry of Health continued the immunisation campaign with healthcare workers and frontline groups including tourism industry operators receiving the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine.
