SHA Plus Certification Ensures Safe Stays in Koh Samui – A Boost for Thai Tourism

As part of its plans to slowly reopen the country, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has presented SHA Plus certification to hotels and resorts that adhere to stringent health and safety protocols; this included properties like Anantara Lawana Koh Samui Resort which is amongst the popular Chaweng Beach resorts where travellers are ensured of safe holidays. The island of Koh Samui reopened its borders on 15th July 2021 offering quarantine free entry to tourists; however, this was for those from nations deemed as “low or medium risk” and who had received a full dose of a COVID-19 vaccination.

On arrival, such tourists must stay at a Samui Extra Plus hotel for the first seven nights and after this, they can transfer to an SHA Plus certified property for the next seven days. After 14 days and provided the three RT-PCR tests following arrival have been negative, travellers are free to visit other parts of the country.
