Singapore Enjoys Welcome Tourism Boost – Significant Influx of Travellers Expected

Singapore’s tourism industry is experiencing a welcome resurgence, fuelled by a strong 2023 and promising projections for 2024. Building on the success of last year, which saw 13.6 million visitors and tourism receipts exceeding $24.5 billion, 2024 is expected to witness a further rise. Estimates suggest arrivals could reach between 15 and 16 million, generating tourism receipts of approximately $26 to $27.5 billion.

This growth is attributed to several factors, including improved global flight connectivity, increased capacity, and strategic initiatives like the recently launched 30-day visa-free travel agreement with China (implemented on 9th February 2024). The impact of this agreement was immediate, with China overtaking Indonesia as the top source of visitors in February.
