Singapore is set to lift all COVID-19 border measures and most of its restrictions as the country lowers its disease alert to its lowest level from February 13. According to the Ministry of Health, the decision was made due to the improving pandemic situation worldwide and the negligible impact of imported cases on Singapore’s healthcare system. The move also means that travellers, including those who are not vaccinated, will no longer be required to show negative pre-departure test results or purchase COVID-19 travel insurance before entering Singapore. Almost all COVID-19 restrictions, such as the mandatory use of masks on public transportation, will also be removed.

The lifting of border measures and restrictions marks a significant step towards normalcy in Singapore. There’s an increase in visitors as well as Sentosa hotel deals for families by properties such as Travelodge Harbourfront. While the country’s vaccination rate remains high, it is expected that the government will continue to monitor the situation and may reintroduce measures if the pandemic situation deteriorates. Meanwhile, authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and adhere to basic COVID-19 precautions, such as wearing masks and maintaining good personal hygiene, to keep the virus at bay.
