Sinhala & Tamil New Year 2020 – New Year Festival
The Sinhalese and Tamil New Year 2020 is one of the most celebrated festivals in the Sri Lankan calendar. It is both the start of and the end of the year in both ethnic calendars of the Sinhalese and Tamils in the country.
This year, the new year will be celebrated on the 13th and 14th of April 2020. The 13th celebrates the passing of the old year when the sun journeys from Meena to Mesha also known as Pisces to Aries in the Zodiac. The new year will be the 14th and is usually Sri Lanka beach hotels will be packed to the brim with tourists, however it is important to keep in mind that in light of the usual coronavirus precautions, guests are asked to call ahead to hotels like Maalu Maalu and inquire about travel restrictions and other precautionary methods in place for Sri Lanka.
