SLTPB Sign MoU with Singapore Airlines – A Timely Boost for Tourism

The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Singapore Airlines on 12th April 2022, which is expected to lead to an increase in tourist arrivals to the island nation. The MoU was signed by the Chairperson of the SLTPB, Ms. Kimarli Fernando, and Singapore Airlines Regional Vice President West Asia & Africa, Mr. David Lau. Reaffirming the commitment of the airline to uplift tourism in Sri Lanka, the MoU paves the way for the extensive route of Singapore Airlines to be used to attract travellers from around the world.

As part of the agreement, SLTPB and Singapore Airlines will hold joint activities to promote the island as a tourist destination with the initial phase targeting key source markets like Australia and Singapore. Social media, as well as electronic and print media, will also be part of the promotion campaign in the futurea. Sri Lanka which has reopened its borders continues to offer unique experiences for travellers including in the hill country and a chance to head to the best places to visit in Nuwara Eliya. Tourists heading to this picturesque part of the island can also stay at ‘Safe & Secure’ certified hotels like Araliya Green Hills which has stringent health and hygiene measures in place too.
