Pattaya, Thailand’s vibrant resort city, recently celebrated the annual Songkran Festival, the name given to the traditional Thai New Year, with much joy and revelry. While the official celebrations typically run from the 13th to the 15th of April across the country, Pattaya takes things to a whole new level with week-long festivities from the 11th to the 19th of April. While religious observances at temples remained an important part of the festivities, honouring the traditional Thai New Year customs, the main attraction in Pattaya was undoubtedly the epic water fights!
Beyond the water battles, this destination offered a vibrant calendar of events throughout the week. Cultural performances showcased the richness of Thai traditions, while foam parties and sand sculptures on the beaches added to the fun. The “Kong Khao” parade, dedicated to the Rice Goddess, brought a touch of local culture to the celebrations, while beauty contests added a dash of glamour.
Some accommodation providers like Avani Pattaya Resort even offered special packages, complete with a Songkran welcome pack and other perks to help guests enjoy a truly remarkable festival experience. Such properties make an ideal choice for those in search of the best resort in Pattaya to enjoy such festivals as well as the city’s magical coastal allure.
