Sri Lanka Amongst Top 5 Wellness Tourism Destinations – A Focus on Holistic Healing

As reported in October this year, the Global Wellness Institute named Sri Lanka amongst the top five wellness tourism destinations in the world; the island nation was also picked as the leading destination for spiritual healing. The achievement was announced by Prasanna Ranatunga, the country’s Tourism Minister, who went on to say that following the pandemic, tourists were focusing on aspects such as their physical, spiritual and mental wellbeing; he also highlighted that the government was working to develop the country’s rich heritage of traditional medicines and Ayurveda for which, there’s high demand.

Following Sri Lanka reopening its borders, many tourists have been enjoying holidays to the island once more. Set amidst the mountains, the hill country offers the ideal destination for a wellness retreat at luxury bungalows in Nuwara Eliya; properties here such as the ‘Safe & Secure’ certified Langdale Boutique Hotel by Amaya offer a dedicated spa where various healing rituals can be experienced.
