Prior to the outbreak of the COVID-19 Pandemic, Indonesia Expat – Indonesia’s largest ex-pat readership – put out a list of the ten best islands to travel to in Asia as voted by their Travel + Leisure readers. Sri Lanka ranked 2nd on this list, being surpassed only by the Palawan Island of the Philippines. Readers noted that they admired Sri Lanka for its pristine natural environments and cultural diversity.
The sheer variety of attractions found within the island were praised as well. After all, you could have just visited the famous Lion Rock and be taking it easy at a hotel in Sigiriya Sri Lanka – say, for example, The Paradise Resort & Spa – or you could be taking it easy at one of the many white-sand beaches along the island’s coastline. Ultimately, the choices here in Sri Lanka are nearly endless.
