Sri Lanka Eases Restrictions for Fully Vaccinated Tourists – A Boost for the Industry

The Sri Lankan tourism industry has been seeing an increase in visitors partly due to the easing of restrictions for fully vaccinated tourists; on 4th September 2021, it was announced that such travellers could leave their ‘Safe and Secure Level 1’ hotel within the bio bubble and could visit other sites and stay at other hotels; however, to do this, they had to pre-book their visit to any attractions and could only use transport provided by a travel agent or accommodation provider.

In a further update, from 1st October 2021, fully vaccinated tourists who arrived in Sri Lanka were no longer subject to a PCR test on arrival; they were required however to show a negative result of a PCR test taken within 72 hours before they arrived. Such moves will encourage more travellers to visit Sri Lanka once more including coastal destinations like Passikudah; hotels here, beside the world’s longest stretch of shallow coastline including Amethyst Resort, Passikudah, offer an ideal base to enjoy safe and fun-filled holidays.
