Sri Lanka Expecting Monthly Increase in Tourists – Getting the Industry Back on Track

As reported on the Daily Mirror news website last month, Sri Lanka is expecting to record a 10-20% monthly increase when it comes to tourist arrivals in 2022. This offers the tourism industry cause to be optimistic that it will further recover this year; this, in turn, will help boost the local economy as the government looks to achieve up to 6% economic growth.

Following the reopening of borders in 2021, Sri Lanka saw a gradual growth in arrivals. This was further boosted when it offered fully vaccinated tourists, quarantine-free holidays; while such travellers had to show a negative result of a PCR test carried out within 72 hours before embarkation, they did not have to submit to a further test on arrival. Tourists arriving this year can once more enjoy the island’s famed coastline while at a Kalutara hotel; Sri Lanka also offers ideal accommodation at “Safe and Secure” certified properties like Anantara Kalutara Resort with stringent health and sanitisation measures in place.
