With boundless accomplishments in the tourism industry during the past year, the target for 2018 has been set at a whopping 2.5 million tourist arrivals! Despite the state of emergency that was imposed on the 6th of March, the Tourism Minister, John Amarathunga, states that the industry will not falter, but in fact have a speedy pick up that could escalate the potential to exceed the targeted 2.5 million for this year.

Most sought after places of interest include Galle and Nuwara Eliya. Bungalows in the hill country such as Scottish Planter Glendevon Bungalow and resorts and spas on the coastal belt are increasing in number to be able to accommodate the growing demand in the industry. Furthermore, the Minister of Tourism explains that quite a few international events are scheduled to be hosted this year, one of them being an international golf tournament, which is sure to push demand even higher.
