Sri Lanka Focuses on Indian tourists in the Next 12 months: Fostering Relationships

As Sri Lanka strives to rebuild its economy following the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, it has set its sights on a key source of tourism: Indian visitors. The island nation is focusing on attracting Indian tourists in the next 12 months, recognising the potential of this close neighbour as a significant contributor to its economic recovery.

The plan includes streamlining visa procedures and ensuring affordable travel options for Indian tourists. There has been an investment of about LKR 1.5 Billion by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau to promote the nation to its neighbouring state over the next year. By targeting the Indian market, Sri Lanka aims to not only boost its tourism sector but also foster stronger economic ties with one of its regional partners. This strategic move aligns with the nation’s determination to bounce back and thrive in a post-pandemic world. With luxury villas in Sri Lanka being the go-to places for Indian tourists, properties such as Bentota No 1 can expect to welcome an influx of visitors throughout the next 12 months.
