Sri Lanka Hits 1 Million Tourist Arrivals in Just 5 Months, Marking a New High in 2025
Sri Lanka sets the pace for travel recovery and global appeal.
Sri Lanka’s tourism sector has hit a major milestone in 2025, recording over one million international arrivals by May 25—an entire month ahead of last year’s pace. According to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), 1,006,097 visitors arrived in the first five months, showcasing a strong recovery and growing global appeal.
India remains the leading source market, contributing nearly 196,000 arrivals so far. Russia, the UK, China, and Germany also posted strong numbers, reflecting a well-diversified visitor base. The island’s enduring charm—from cultural sites to nature escapes—is drawing travellers seeking immersive experiences.
Accommodation options such as Mandara Ridge Haputale are gaining attention among travellers looking for scenic retreats, adding value to the growing segment of bungalows in Sri Lanka.

Boosted by improved air connectivity, sustainable tourism initiatives, and dynamic marketing, Sri Lanka is well on track to exceed expectations for 2025, as the peak travel season nears.
