Sri Lanka is confident of USD 500 Mn in tourism revenue through March 2022 – Much awaited news!

Sri Lanka’s tourism industry was hit by the Easter attacks in 2019 and then by the COVID 19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021. The country has now opened its borders fully to international travellers, and the government officials predict that 2022 will be a better year for the SL tourism sector. They have recently declared that the country will be able to hit the USD 500 Mn tourist revenue target by the end of March 2022.

This target will require the country to have at least 50,000 arrivals per month and the officials are quite hopeful about the same. Once travellers come to Sri Lanka, they can now freely travel around the country and even stay at Nuwara Eliya bungalows the likes of Oliphant Boutique Villa by Amaya. Sri Lankan points of interest such as rivers, waterfalls, and Natural Parks will also be kept open for all travellers.
